    My First Roll: Cleber Machado

My First Roll is a series for film photographers to share the images from their first roll of film.  Everyone starts shooting at a different time and for different reasons.  Some shooters may have started shooting yesterday while others have started shooting decades ago.  This series provides a glimpse into the humble beginnings of individual photographers, encouraging us to reflect on our earlier work to find beauty and appreciation in our inexperience and to understand how we got to where we our now and where we want to go in our photographic journey.  If you would like to share images from your first roll of film, send me an email.

Cleber Machado shares his first roll of film with a new camera he has developed a fondness for.  After moving on from a broken Pentax ME, Cleber moved onto using a Rollei 35 SE paired with some Kodak Color 200 bring out the beauty of the Sao Paolo backdrop.  If you would like to check out more of Cleber’s work, then feel free to check him out on Instagram.

Avery Berger is my four year old pseudo niece and the daughter of my close friend Ryan Berger. Following in the footsteps of her father, Avery shares her first roll of film from her Fuji Big Viewfinder 50 AF, shot on Fuji Superia 200.  Avery’s vantage point and perspective highlights the simplicity in the beauty of image creation without following the rules we are usually taught when we first pick up a camera.
